Encryption Wizard is available in two forms, one that includes a FIPS 140-2 validated encryption engine (EW-Govt) and another one that relies on the encryption capabilities native to a user's Java Runtime Environment (EW-Public).
The FIPS 140-2 validated version of Encryption Wizard contains a cryptographic module licensed from RSA®. The FIPS version may only be used by US Government employees or contractors under contract with the US Government. It may only be distributed by the Air Force Research Laboratory and by designated distribution authorities. Users may NOT examine code contained in the RSA licensed cryptographic module contained in the FIPS version.
Information regarding RSA's FIPS 140-2 validation may be found here: http://csrc.nis.gov/groups/STM/cmvp/documents/140-1/140val-all.htm#820
The public version of Encryption Wizard has no specific restrictions on who may use it or how it is used. However, users are still subject to any licenses or agreements governing the use of their local Java Runtime Environment. EW-Public may be freely distributed via electronic or other means. Users may examine the executable code contained in the .jar file. Users may NOT re-purpose the executable code contained in the .jar file or distribute modified versions of its code or the .jar file without the prior written consent of the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Licenses for third-party utilities used by all editions of Encryption Wizard are explained in the User Manual.
